Try the Makrinitsa – West Emergency Refuge trail (3.8-star rating, AllTrails) for a moderate hike through chestnut and beech forests, ending at a 1,415m refuge.

For a longer adventure, the Makrinitsa – Sourvia Monastery – Kato Kerasia trail (13.5 miles) offers historic sights and scenic viewpoints.
